The Presidency of the State of Palestine welcomed today the positions of the United Nations, the European Union, EU member states and other countries that have expressed support for holding the elections in all the Palestinian territories, including occupied East Jerusalem, and urged the Israeli government to facilitate voting in Jerusalem.
The Presidency also reiterated its call on the international community, the European Union and the international Quartet to continue to pressure the Israeli occupation government to abide by the agreement signed regarding the holding of elections in occupied East Jerusalem, affirming that it will continue to work with all parties of the international community to achieve this goal.
The Presidency confirmed the Palestinian position expressed by President Mahmoud Abbas at the recent leadership meeting that at the moment of obtaining Israel's approval to hold the elections in Jerusalem, a relevant decree will be issued and the elections will be held immediately.
